I am Crystal Brooks, the Board Secretary for I AM VOICES
I’m passionate about serving others, empowering women, and finding innovative ways to make systems align and run smoothly. My career experience includes 14 years as a Sr. Docket Clerk at the City of Charleston Municipal Court. I trained the staff on how to run various court processes, create court forms, and calendars while handling the administrative responsibilities for weekly court sessions. I was recognized by Mayor Joseph Riley for my contributions and service to the City of Charleston.
During my tenure at The City of Charleston Municipal Court, I witnessed first-hand how the lack of mental health resources has a detrimental effect on a person and how accessing mental health services can have a positive impact on an individual’s life.
I believe in I AM VOICES, because I believe in empowering women to not only survive but thrive. I believe the resources I AM VOICES offers has and will continue to save many lives, by providing shelter, counseling, and other support to assist women with regaining control of their futures. As an abuse survivor myself, I realize the necessity of I Am Voices! I Am Voices provides a safe place for women to heal and soar.

_“What drew me to I AM VOICES is the mission. These women are victims who have experienced trauma, yet they are often misunderstood and misrepresented. Megan and her team welcome these women with open arms and provide them with the support and skills to help them lead happy lives. While it is only one of the potential traumas these women have endured – sexual violence is an issue very close to my heart. Many women in my life, including myself, have been victims of assault or rape. The CDC reports 1 in 5 women experience sexual violence during their lifetime. That is an alarming statistic and shows the NEED for change in policies and societal norms. I want to be part of that change.”_
